The Walking Dead S03E14 Recap: "Prey"

Woodbury takes center stage as season 3 inches closer to its finale. In this episode, there are those desperately trying to stay in Woodbury, another desperately trying to escape it, and then there are those that are just confused in the middle of it all.

Worried about his longtime friend Philip, Milton warns Andrea about The Governor's real plan and the deal he made with Rick. That it would involve Rick turning over Andrea's best friend in exchange for peace, but that The Governor would kill Rick and his people anyways. Milton even shows Andrea the torture room that The Governor is preparing for Michonne's arrival, complete with a chair, chains, and a whole lot of tools. The two watch from the vent above as The Governor works on the room. At one point Andrea pulls out her gun to kill The Governor right there and then. Milton pushes it away though, revealing how conflicted he is.

Unable to kill The Governor, Andrea knows that she can't stay in Woodbury any longer and that Michonne was right. Before she's able to dash, she runs into Martinez who make her hand over her gun, per The Governor's orders. She obliges. Afterwards, Andrea bolts across the barrier being guarded by Tyreese and Sasha. They try to stop her, but she urges them to run as well. Tyreese senses that Andrea might be telling the truth about The Governor, but keeps that information to himself. Andrea gets away and is out of Woodbury, in the clear it seems.

Later on, Martinez informs Tyreese and Sasha that they're needed for a mission. Thinking that they're chasing after Andrea, Tyreese opposes, but Martinez reassures him that they're doing something else.

But Andrea is not forgotten, The Governor is going after her. Alone.

Martinez takes Tyreese, Sasha, Allen, and Ben to a nearby location where they find a pit of walkers. Martinez reveals that they're going to use the walkers against the prison group. Tyreese is disgusted, which draws the ire of Allen who really wants to live in Woodbury. It's clear that Allen hates Tyreese, mostly for one time saving his wife who then looked at Tyreese as her hero. He's not going to let Tyreese ruin his life in Woodbury now too. When Allen confronts Tyreese, the two get into a scuffle, which results in Tyreese holding Allen over the pit of walkers. Allen begs him to drop him in, but Tyreese is better than that.

Andrea is on her way back to the prison, but before she can get there, she's found by The Governor. She leads him on a wild goose chase and the two of them end up in an abandoned building. It was a thrilling scene, as Andrea moved in and out of corners to hide from The Governor, all the while there are walkers present in the building. After a long search, The Governor finally finds Andrea after she runs into walker trouble. Before he can take her, Andrea finds a staircase full of walkers, and pulls the door in front of her, leading them all to The Governor. While he has his hands full with dozens of walkers, she makes her escape.

Andrea is able to make it all the way to the prison by morning and she signals to Rick who is watching from the watchtower. He spots something briefly, but just as he does, The Governor comes out of nowhere and pulls Andrea down to the ground. Rick doesn't see the tussle, and given his mental health as of late, I'm sure he thought nothing of what he saw. The Governor manages to take Andrea back into his truck and back to Woodbury. Upon his arrival in Woodbury, he tells everyone that he couldn't find Andrea, that she was gone.

Meanwhile, in the middle of the night a mystery person arrives at the scene of the walker pits, pouring gasoline on them all and setting them on fire, ruining The Governor's plans for the prison group. Martinez believes that Tyreese and Sasha are responsible and notifies The Governor. When The Governor questions Tyreese and Sasha about it, it's clear they have no idea what he's talking about.

So who was the mystery person? My guess would be Milton. The Governor was off chasing Andrea and Martinez was off preparing for the war, leaving Milton to himself.

Also I just want to point out that at in the season two premiere, the group comes across a highway wreck with dead people in their cars that didn't turn. The producers explained that away by saying that the heat of the sun cooked their brains. I just want to know how the walkers in this episode survived an inferno, but the people in that episode died from heat from the sun...

As the episode ends, Milton suspects that The Governor did find Andrea. He asks if she's alive, to which The Governor responds, "I hope so". The episode closes with Andrea tied up in the torture room chair that was being prepared for Michonne.

Now that everyone feels bad for Andrea she`s clearly going to die.
