New Dexter Season 7 Trailer: Will Deb or Dexter Break?

The seventh season of Dexter is quickly approaching, but we're still uncertain whether that's something we should be anticipating or dreading. Season 6 wasn't exactly a masterpiece. We even saw the big twist at the end that Showtime has been plugging for season 7 coming halfway through the season.

As we pick up where we left off, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) has murdered the Doomsday Killer (Colin Hanks), but his plan had a hitch. His adoptive sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) caught him in the act, after a season of declaring how she was in love with him to her psychiatrist.

At that precise moment, the direction for season 7 became clear, in that it would revolve around how Deb would react to what she saw, not to mention how far she'd go along with it as the new Captain of the homicide division.

We've already gotten plenty of details on the upcoming season, including a sneak peak at the first two minutes of the premiere and various season trailers, but Showtime has finally revealed a proper trailer with brand new footage, and it definitely looks explosive.

From what we can gather from the trailer, the cat is out of the bag between Dexter and Deb, or at least it will be when Deb finds Dexter's serial killing kit and the blood slides and FINALLY puts things together with regards to who he is and what he does. From there, not only will the season be about how Deb deals with all of it (including copious amounts of swear-whining, of course), but also how Dex will react to it.

He'll get the urge to kill Deb because she knows too much, but he'll also be tempted by the people around him, as he see what could only be a dream sequence of him killing Masuka (it better be a dream sequence, if they kill Masuka I'm officially out), and even him threatening Louis (Josh Cooke), the guy who "acquired" the Ice Truck Killer arm and has a fascination with Dexter. Moreover, how does Yvonne Strahovski's new mysterious character fit in to all of this?

It'll be a trying season, not only for Dex and Deb, but for the viewers, as last season was hard to watch. The potential is there for season seven to be redeeming, and we'll find out for certain when Dexter re-debuts on September 30th on Showtime.
