The Second Avengers Trailer Has Assembled
The summer blockbuster season is fast approaching, and as usual, Marvel will look to kick things off with a bang as it plans to release "The Avengers" right off the bat on May 4th, 2012 in North America. The comic-turned-movie maker has been hyping this film not only for the better part of the last two years with previews, stories and Comic-Con appearances, but also through other films, dating back to 2008's Robert Downey Jr. starring Iron Man and capped off with 2011's "Thor" and "Captain America".
But we'll only really find out if the hype will pay off this May, when the movie hits theaters, when reviews start dropping and we finally find out how many hundreds of millions Marvel will rake in. We've talked about the potential bad guys, we've speculated about the film's perspective, and we've even gotten the first trailer. It's time to get a little more, as Marvel finally released the second full trailer for the film, and before we get to it, let me tell you that it's pretty awesome:
This trailer focuses on the actual assemblage of the Avengers team, and questions about whether or not so many egos, so many damaged and frankly dangerous people can stand up against the forces brought to earth by Loki, Thor's brother. There's your motivation for Thor joining the team. Captain America might be there because he's sick of being hidden from the world, same for Bruce Banner / Hulk, and as Tony Stark mentions himself, Iron Man is an egomaniac, so we can guess why he would want to be part of the fun.
They have to band together, walk furiously and with purpose and face Loki's troops (who still remain under clouded mystery) in order to save the world, regardless of their own personal motivations.
And the whole thing looks like fun indeed. If this trailer proves anything, it's that The Avengers will be two hours of pure fun and action, of superheroes leaping across skyscrapers and fighting nearly unstoppable evil forces, all while trying to coexist. There's never been a film or project as ambitious as this, and expectations are huge. It's kind of interesting that it's all in the hands of director/producer Joss Whedon, and all these mammoth movie stars. While you'll likely be heading to the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man to satisfy your nerd hormones, or The Dark Knight Rises for the drama, The Avengers promises to satisfy your pure action taste buds, and the second trailer definitely raises the level of hype.
The Avengers (or Avengers Assemble, as it's known now in the UK for some reason), hits theaters on May 4, 2012, and stars *deep breath* Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, and Clark Gregg, among many others.
