One thing I appreciate more than anything in my line of work is when people in the movie, TV, and gaming industries don't mince words. When they tell you exactly what they're selling, it has to be a plus.
What you see is exactly what you get with Baby Monkey (Going Backwards on a Pig). You play as a baby monkey... who's riding backwards... on a pig...
Pretty simple, right?
It's not the most innovative or amazing game you'll find on the App Store, but it also doesn't make any promises that it can't keep. There's really not much we can say about Baby Monkey (Going Backwards on a Pig) that you can't already infer from the title. As the pig automatically rides across the screen, you can launch both the pig and / or the monkey in the air to grab bananas for points, as well as to dodge obstacles, such as obstructions (camp sites, cacti, and of course giant hamsters), holes and cliffs. Survive as long as you can to set a high score (both locally and on gamecenter), and pick up achievements.
All the while, the catchy tune that made this concept possible plays in the background on loop, and we couldn't get enough of it.
It's your basic "Run for your Life" game. Call it a mix between "Canabalt" and "Robot Unicorn Attack". We've seen it time and time again. So why spend another 99 cents on a game you already own? Because this is what the game is based on:
If that man doesn't deserve a dollar from all of us, then there's something wrong with our society.
I'm a little too flabbergasted to really say anything else about this game, other than to reaffirm that this definitely needs to be in your collection.
Baby Monkey (Going Backwards on a Pig) receives a 7.5 out of 10 and can be found on iTunes for 99 cents.
